![]() And to be honest, I just realized that 5 of the 8 characters stories felt like pulling teeth at that point and I just couldn't make myself grind to be rewarded with painful story telling no matter how pretty the game was and how much i liked the combat. ![]() 2D pixel art, enhanced with 3D-CG effects, brings the wondrous world of Orsterra to life with beautifully stylized environments. The music and sound design was average to slightly above average, nothing to write home about, but wasn't painful either.Īll of that being said I played it till the final story arch's for each character (about 30% of game left), where the game was walling me off till i was level appropriate. A new story unfolds in the world of Orsterra Enjoy high quality graphics, engaging combat, and storytelling akin to OCTOPATH TRAVELER in this prequel optimized for mobile devices. The pixel art is some of the best I have seen in modern times as far as games are concerned, for the first half i was eagerly awaiting what the next big bad guy would look like in combat etc, ![]() Now if those things don't deter you, the battle is surprisingly deep with figuring out enemy weaknesses on the fly and being able to store turns to unleash multiple attacks or powered up skills with said charges. There is even a native girl who "talkth liketh thisth" to the extent it feels like they just had a random generator distribute th's to the end of words randomly, it's not even consistent with what words have it. I just hope Octopath Traveler gives me something close to RS feels with better graphics. This might be the best jrpg ever and the game has so much replay value. It feels like they got 8 different writers for the 8 characters and the quality also varies widely. On top of that, Bokuno version is mind blowingly huge in content and they are all from saga series so it doesnt mess up the flow of the game and fits really well. The story is also extremely bipolar, characters ranging from witnessing best friends be murdered to happy go lucky "i wanna be the best merchant ever". Octopath kind of falls into an awkward pit of "open world" but also everything is mandatory, so no matter who you start with, you will be getting everyone, no matter who's quest line you further first, you will be doing all of them anyways. TLDR grindy, repetitive, pretty, deep combat, ok sound quality, writing and translation ranging from intriguing to dumpster fire
